Embattled Senator Ma. Lourdes “Nancy” Binay yesterday prayed for the grace to forgive hours after 10 senators signed the draft committee report recommending the filing of plunder charges against her father, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Binay, who was assigned to lead the opening prayer during the 3 p.m. session of the Senate, also prayed that God would remove the “anger, hatred” in their hearts.
“Ama namin sa langit. Muli po kami’y dumudulog sa Inyo. Gabayan Ninyo po kami sa aming patuloy na paglilingkod sa taumbayan. Tulungan Ninyo po kaming linisin mula sa aming mga puso ang galit, poot at pansariling interes upang mas matugunan namin ang mga pangangailangan ng aming pinaglilingkuran,” Binay said.
(Our Father in heaven, we come to you once again. Asking You to guide us as we serve the public. Help us cleanse our hearts from any anger, hatred and vested interest so we can effectively help the people we serve.)
“Turuan Ninyo po kaming magpatawad upang mas mapabuti namin ang aming pagsisilbi dito sa Senado. Nawa’y kami po ay magkaisa nang agad naming mabigyan ng kasagutan ang mga problemang kinakaharap ng bayan,” she further prayed.
(Teach us to be forgiving so we can improve our service here in the Senate. I hope we can unite and provide a solution to the problems the nation is facing.)
“Sana po ay magtulung-tulong ang lahat upang makamtan na ng sambayanang Pilipino ang maunlad at masaganang buhay na matagal na naming pinapangarap,” she added.
