DOHA: Temperature in Doha is expected to reach 46 degrees Celsius today and could soar further in the following days, according to the Meteorology Department.
The department has also forecast strong dust winds from today, gathering further momentum tomorrow and on Thursday.
Temperature will remain higher by three to five degrees than its annual normal values until tomorrow.
The maximum temperature is expected to be between 45 and 46 degrees in Doha and higher in the central and southern areas of the country.
Mercury will return to its annual normal on Thursday, reaching 40-42 degrees, said the department.
Wind speed would increase by noon today and reach its peak tomorrow and Thursday between 10-20 knots, reaching 25 knots by noon. On Thursday, the wind would become northwesterly-northeasterly under the impact of a low pressure over the UAE associated with the Indian monsoon.
On Friday and Saturday the wind is expected to be easterly, making the days hot and humid.
