Instead of betting on the fight of Manny Pacquiao, a Catholic priest has asked the faithful to just pray for the boxer.
Fr. Edu Gariguez, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines National Secretariat for Social Action, said while there is nothing wrong for the people to support Pacquiao, it’s best if they do this by praying for him and not by betting on his game.
The CBCP official also urged the faithful to instead donate to the needy.
The priest issued the advice knowing the Filipino’s knack for betting in sports and other games, especially whenever Pacquiao has a fight.
Pacquiao is set to battle it out with Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States on May 2 (May 3, 2015, Sunday PH time)
