Doha, Qatar: Al Wajba clinched the title of the third Al Thumama Ramadan Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Al Rayyan in the final, capping a strong run in the youth competition for players aged 10 to 14.

The champions received QR7,000 along with gold medals, while the team’s captain marked the occasion by wearing a traditional bisht during the awards ceremony, echoing a memorable football moment from Qatar’s recent history.

Al Raya Medical secured third place after defeating Al Shaab 2-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw, earning QR3,000 and bronze medals. Al Rayyan finished runners-up, taking home QR5,000 and silver medals.

The tournament, held at Al Furjan Stadium in Al Thumama, was organised by the local organising committee in cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation, bringing together 13 teams from across the country.

Chairman of the Organising Committee Hassan Ali Al Ishaq praised the event’s execution and impact, saying: “This year’s tournament was a model of organisation and professionalism. It brought together teams from across Qatar and provided a valuable opportunity to discover young talent.”

He added: “We received many positive comments, and the tournament continues to grow as a leading Ramadan event for age groups.”

Executive Director of the federation Abdullah Al Dosari highlighted its continued development, stating: “We will continue to organise tournaments in a strong and distinctive manner.”

He added that the competition’s success reflects the efforts of the organising team and its role in encouraging youth participation in sport.

Tournament Director Youssef Ali Abdul Noor underlined the level of competition, saying: “We are delighted with the great success of this edition.”

He added: “The tournament has become an important platform for discovering talent, and we have seen players with promising potential for the future.”
