BAGHDAD: The Iraqi parliament on Saturday passed a bill that labels Anbar province a disaster zone.

Iraqi MP Abdul Rahman al-Lewizi told Anadolu Agency that the declaration is meant to motivate the government to speed up reconstruction work.

Officials said 80 percent of the province has been severely destroyed by the Islamic State terrorist group.
