Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) and University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing joint programmes and initiatives to support youth and enhance their skills.

The MoU also aims to promote scientific research and innovation in astronomy and space sciences through Al Thuraya Planetarium. In his speech during the signing ceremony, General Manager of Katara Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti emphasised that this agreement represents a distinguished model of effective partnership between culture and education, adding that Katara seeks to provide an environment that promotes cultural renaissance in parallel with scientific and technological development.

He explained that the cooperation between the two institutions will open new horizons for students and researchers, enabling them to benefit from the cultural and knowledge resources offered by Katara.

Al Sulaiti added that the MoU enhances Katara’s role as a cultural and scientific center that contributes to spreading knowledge in astronomy and space sciences, adding that the cooperation with UDST will provide students with practical educational opportunities within the Al Thuraya Planetarium.

He stressed that through this MoU, Katara aims to create opportunities that enhance knowledge and encourage innovation, supporting Qatar’s role in space education. On his part, President of UDST Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that UDST is pleased to collaborate with Katara in an initiative that reflects the importance of promoting education in the fields of astronomy and space sciences in Qatar.

He explained that the university looks forward to developing specializations that require the integration of UDST’s academic expertise with Katara’s cultural and scientific resources, to open new horizons for knowledge exchange and increase community interaction in these fields. The MoU paves the way for cooperation between Katara and UDST to utilise the Al Thuraya Planetarium at Katara for educational and awareness activities, exchange expertise, and implement joint training programmes, workshops, and research initiatives.
