Doha: Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari met yesterday with Secretary General and CEO of National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka Shiham Marikar via video conferencing.

The meeting touched of commercial cooperation links between both countries and ways to enhancing them and promoting vistas of cooperation between both the private sector of both countries, as well as inviting Qatari investors to invest in Sri Lanka.

Speaking during the meeting, Twar praised the close relations between both countries, assuring that Sri Lanka is an attractive destination for Qatari investments because it owns enormous potential in many sectors.

He also stressed that the Qatar Chamber highly welcomes the visit of a Sri Lanka business delegation to Qatar this year, indicating that this visit offers a good opportunity for businessmen from both sides to bolster their cooperation ties and explore available opportunities in both sides, in addition to forge genuine partnerships that are of good advantage for both economies.

On his part, Shiham Marikar said that the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka is keen on bolstering cooperation with Qatar Chamber, noting that a businessmen delegation from more than 20 Sri Lankan firms will visit Qatar this year to meet their Qatari counterparts and explore opportunities available for cooperation with the Qatari side.

Marikar pointed out that Sri Lanka welcomes Qatari investments at all sectors such as food security, industry, construction, rubber, IT, and others, indicating that both sides can cooperate and forge genuine partnerships in Qatar so that Qatar becomes a hub for exporting Sri Lankan products to other countries in Middle East and Europe.
