Doha: Close on the heels of the successful First West Asia Hockey event, Qatar Hockey Federation will be hosting the star-studded Hockey Festival between March 3 and 6 in Al Rayyan.
The highlight of this year’s event will be the presence of some Chak De movie stars, who will team up with the Qatar Chak De team to play the Doha Hockey Girls on Thursday, March 6 at 5pm.
The event will feature the star-studded PIA team from Pakistan, the Malaysian Polytechnic, and the Qatar national team.
The PIA team, coached by Olympian Muhamed Irfan and managed by Olympian Shahid Ali Khan, has several big names like Imran Butt, Ihsanullah, Muhamed Irfan, Shafqat Rasool, Muhamed Zubair, Waqas Akbar and other internationals.
The Malaysian team also has a few internationals from the senior and junior teams of Malaysia, like Jivan Mohan, Muhamed Amin, Hafifi Hafiz, Mohamed Nor Aqmal, and Mohamed Ashrafan.
After a disastrous outing in the West Asia tournament, the Qatar team will be trying to make amends under the guidance of new coach Maggid Abu Talib. The team will be travelling to Bangladesh for the Asian games qualifiers and will be using this event for warming up.
Pakistani hockey legend Shahbaz Senior will be the guest of honour, while rising Indian star Yuvraj Walmiki will be a special guest of QHF during the event.
