Qatar has condemned the shooting attack in Istanbul, Turkey, that left 39 killed and dozens wounded. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar's firm position in rejecting violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The Ministry stressed the need to strengthening coordination among countries, and to unite the international community's efforts in order to ensure the eradication of terrorism and its causes.
The Ministry expressed Qatar's solidarity with the government of Turkey, and its full support for all measures it takes to maintain its security and stability.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that terrorist attacks were aimed at creating chaos and instability in the country. He added that Turkey will be firm in doing whatever is necessary to protect its citizens and maintain peace in the region.
GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani condemned the terrorist attack that took place in a night club in Istanbul, killing and injuring dozens of people.
The Secretary-General described the attack as a horrible crime that contradicted with all moral and humanitarian principles. He stressed that the GCC was fully behind the Turkish government in its counterterrorism efforts.
He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
