SOS Children’s Village, Gulf Area, an INGO dedicated to caring for children without parental care and those at risk of losing it, and Dhreima, a pioneering centre in providing care to orphans and integrating them into the society in Qatar, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange knowledge and provide capacity building for the best interest of orphans in Qatar.
The MoU was signed by Mariam Al Misned, Executive Director of Dhreima, and Nicole Nassar, Managing Director of SOS Children’s Villages International Gulf Area in Doha.
The agreement will help Dhreima orphans care centre leverage 65+ years expertise of SOS Children’s Villages International in integrating best-in-class social, scientific, economic and cultural practices in child upbringing into their c projects with a view to provide the underprivileged children with appropriate care, rehabilitation and protection.
Commenting on the MoU, Mariam Al Misned said, “We have faith that bringing in expertise with local perspective can result in great benefit to both parties. The two organisations work for the best interest of the children in need and thus we share the same vision of bringing the best future for the children in our care”

SOS Children’s Villages has been operating in the MENA region since 1968. The organization has established villages in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco, and runs several programs aimed at providing children with quality care and educational support, as well as empowering local communities.
Earlier in 2014, SOS Children’s Villages opened its Gulf Office in Dubai as an expansion into the Gulf region. With the launch of the new SOS Children’s Villages Gulf Area Office, the organisation now operates in 134 countries around the globe.
