Doha, Qatar: Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, inaugurated yesterday the “Sword of Wishes” mural by artist Lina Al Aali, in Building 15.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Al Sulaiti welcomed the initiatives of Qatari artists to submit proposals for murals to decorate the corridors of the Cultural District with their artistic creations, praising the beautiful artistic work presented by the artist Lina Al Aali, saying: “Katara supports the Qatari artist and stands by her side to present her distinctive artistic experience, which we are happy and proud to present to visitors.”
Al Aali said: “My mural, which I called “Sword of Wishes,” translated the magic of childhood and the splendor of the sea in one shot. In this mural, the girl was depicted sitting facing the sea and holding a kite in the shape of a ship in her hand, and next to her another girl shared with her, but her dreams are different, as she is holding a kite and a fish, it is a mural that transports you to the world of heritage, identity, stories of the past, childhood innocence, and the power of dreams of the present.”
The artist thanked those in charge of Katara, led by the General Manager, for their support of the cultural movement to advance art in Qatar. It is worth noting that the Katara Cultural Village includes many murals, including the Al Maha mural, the Challenge mural, a mural by artist Nehru Qadir Rashid, and the Friends of Qatar-Cuba mural.
