The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) marked Qatar Infection Prevention and Control (QIPC) Week under the theme "Break the Chain of Infection,” recently. The event was held in collaboration with various healthcare facilities and institutions in Qatar.
Events included awareness activities to highlight the importance of infection prevention and control practices in all health care facilities. In addition, a public awareness campaign was organised focusing on preventing infections. The event aims at educating health care professionals to prevent infections as well as raise awareness among the public on the important role they play to protect themselves and others.
The campaign was the first QIPC Week held at a national level. QIPC will be an annual event to highlight the importance of infection prevention and control practices wherever health care is delivered to improve patient safety.
“QIPC Week aims to highlight the important role that the best evidence-based practices in infection prevention and control play to prevent infections,” said Huda Amer Al Katheeri, Acting Director of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety department, MoPH.
MoPH team visited Mesaimeer Workers Health Center and participated in various activities including a lecture on importance and ways to prevent infection. Officials urged workers to follow infection prevention practices such as washing hands properly and follow etiquette while sneezing and coughing.
