DOHA: A traffic light signal is being built between Al Hazara Street and Najma Street.
The project is in the final stage and expected to be completed soon.
It is part of road development projects on E-Ring Road and Najma Street and expected be opened for traffic within a few days, Al Sharq said, quoting a source from the Public Works Department - Ashghal.
Development works on E-Ring Road and Najma Street began in the third quarter of this year and are scheduled to be completed within eight months.
The projects aim to  develop a 3.3km  stretch from E-Ring Road to Najma Street by increasing lanes from two to four on each side and build two intersections.
The conversion of Al Thomama Roundabout into a traffic signal is also part of these projects.
The signal located at Al Matar Street and E-Ring Road will also be developed as part of the projects so that motorists could take a U-turn.
The source said there was a plan to build a signal at Aqba Bin Nafi Intersection along with Najma Street and make separate lanes for cyclists. To construct a flyover for pedestrian crossing at E-ring Road was also included in the project.
The projects are estimated to cost QR240m and expected to be completed fully by the beginning of 2017.
