Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) and the Union of Arab Securities Commissions (UASA) concluded last week a training programme entitled “Effective Oversight and Development of Capital Markets” which was held in cooperation with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The programme focused on dealing with financial market abuses and inefficiencies, and explored different approaches of regulatory oversight systems around the world. At the end of the programme, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, the Governor of Qatar Central Bank and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of QFMA and Nasser Ahmed Al Shaibi, the Chief Executive Officer of QFMA, handed over certificates to 50 participants. Al Shaibi, the current Chairman of the Union of Arab Securities Commissions, honoured the QCB Governor for his support for Union activities.
