During the communication training workshop at Katara Summer Camp.
Doha, Qatar: The Katara Summer Camp continues its activities for the second week in a row, with the participation of 50 children between the ages of 10 to 13 years.
The camp records the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Qatar Red Crescent, the Al Jazeera Media Institute, the Nomas Center, and the Shooting Club.
The programme for today, Tuesday, will include a range of activities and lectures, including training workshops on first aid methods, safety methods, fire and accident prevention, lectures on hospitality and council etiquette, in addition to a visit to the Thuraya Planetarium, a tour of the Al Qannas Association headquarters, and encouraging sports competitions in football and beach volleyball.
Yesterday’s programme included a lecture on personality types presented by Iman Al Obaidi, a trainer at Al Jazeera Media Institute, as these workshops help in developing children’s communication skills.
These workshops are held within the Al Jazeera Ambassadors initiative. The lecture, presented by the General Department for Drug Control, dealt with raising awareness of drugs and introducing children to the methods used by drug dealers to distribute them.
The Qatar Red Crescent also offers four training workshops over the course of the camp, at a rate of one workshop per week, with the aim of introducing them to the basics of first aid and sound health rules.
The cooperation embodies the common visions between the Qatar Red Crescent and the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara with regard to social, educational and volunteer activities that contribute to building the capacities of young people and future leaders.
The entertaining segments, such as the questions and answers segment, received the approval, admiration, and great interaction of children, as these segments aim to increase their knowledge and information about history, religion, geography, science, as well as religious information.
The camp organising committee was also keen on the existence of a competitive spirit among the participants by allocating a competition for the best football team, the best volleyball team and the best shooter, which made the camp atmosphere very fun and joyful.
