Brussels: Several people were killed after a fire broke out in an apartment building on Antwerp's Left Bank in northern Belgium on Wednesday, local police said.
The Antwerp fire department said it mounted a large-scale emergency response, deploying firefighters to carry out rescue and firefighting operations.
The cause of the fire and the exact number of fatalities have not yet been disclosed.
