Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received on Wednesday the U.S. envoys HE Steve Witkoff and HE Jared Kushner at his office at Lusail Palace.
During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the region, particularly recent progress in the negotiation track between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the two sides.
They also discussed the current situation in the sisterly Republic of Lebanon and stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in a manner that preserves Lebanon's unity, sovereignty and stability.
HH the Amir affirmed Qatar's continued commitment, in partnership with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to mediation efforts and support for all rounds of talks stemming from the memorandum of understanding, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable settlement that enhances regional security and supports international peace and security.
For their part, the two U.S. envoys expressed their appreciation for the role played by the State of Qatar, in partnership with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in supporting the negotiation process and helping bridge differences between the parties.
They also reaffirmed the United States' commitment to continuing the negotiation track and advancing diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement.
