Doha: QNB has launched an application — considered the first of its kind in Qatar and GCC — to revive Qatari traditions using latest smartphone and tablet technology.
The game can be downloaded from App Store and Google Play and played by anyone or in a multiplayer setting. It features four characters: Abdullah, Noura, Salem and Ali and a soundtrack that includes Garengao song.
The app is in the form of a video game ‘Garangao Challenge’ developed in cooperation with Idea Media and Modhesh Entertainment.
It is a continuation of QNB’s efforts to create ideas to commemorate its annual celebration of Garengao and allows children and adults to enjoy a modern game, while celebrating Qatari traditions.
QNB is hold Garengao celebration on the 13th and 14th of Ramadan on the third floor of City Centre Mall.
Festivities begin at 7.30pm  continue until midnight. Garengao treats are given to participants. There are photography sessions for children with the game’s characters and other games and activities.
Garengao treats not only include bags of sweets but also  the chance to download the free app and have fun with four characters, who compete to gather the greatest amount of sweets and gifts.
Players can advance through stages every time they gather enough points to complete the levels that merge tradition with interactive backgrounds featuring many of Doha City’s landmarks.
The game aims to guide the characters from one place to another while avoiding water obstacles that separate buildings designed after landmarks. It also features an ATM bearing the QNB logo.
Victory is achieved by gathering the largest number of sweets and scoring most points.
