Doha, Qatar: The Qatari Hajj Mission has affirmed that a comprehensive, around-the-clock medical system is fully prepared to serve Qatari pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj season 2026 emphasising that pilgrim safety remains a top priority.

The Medical Services Unit of the Mission announced its full readiness as part of extensive preparations, operating through an integrated coordination framework that brings together the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and the Primary Health Care Corporation.

The aim is to ensure the highest standards of healthcare for pilgrims from departure through to their safe return home. Head of the Medical Services Unit Dr. Khalid Abdulhadi stressed that the State spares no effort in mobilising medical resources and qualified personnel to safeguard the health and well-being of pilgrims throughout their journey.

He explained that the medical unit operates around the clock with multidisciplinary teams that include family physicians, emergency doctors, epidemiologists, nurses, paramedics, and pharmacists, ensuring rapid response and high-quality care.

Medical clinics for both men and women have been set up in Makkah, alongside field clinics in the holy sites of Mina and Arafat. A fully equipped medical team will also accompany pilgrims in Muzdalifah, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services throughout all stages of the Hajj rituals.The Qatari Hajj Mission headquarters in Makkah is equipped with comprehensive medical facilities, including a full floor dedicated to medical isolation, triage and rapid diagnosis clinics, separate treatment clinics for men and women, and a dedicated floor for quick examinations.

Dr. Abdulhadi noted that medical teams will accompany pilgrims at all times, providing necessary healthcare and emergency support. An ambulance will also remain on standby throughout the season to ensure swift intervention in urgent cases.

To maintain peak readiness, coordination meetings will be held in the coming days with accompanying medical teams to review operational plans, approved treatment protocols, shift systems, emergency handling procedures, and criteria for isolation or hospitalisation, in line with health regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

MoPH mandates the meningococcal vaccine for all pilgrims (valid for five years), in addition to COVID-19 vaccination for high-risk groups such as individuals over 65, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses or weakened immunity.
