DOHA: As part of its ongoing efforts to serve the deaf and advance their knowledge and religious knowledge, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance – Islamic Network Division, participated in the 50th Arab Deaf Week Exhibition, which is being held over five days at Audio Education Complex for Girls.
The Ministry’s participation included a dedicated pavilion to showcase its efforts in serving the deaf through the “Deaf Portal” on its website, Islamweb.
The Ministry’s pavilion showcased over 800 visual advocacy materials covering various fields, including Islamic doctrine, jurisprudence, prophetic stories, hadiths, purification and ethics, new Muslims, and general consultations.
A specialized team of Sharia experts and sign language interpreters carefully prepares these materials to ensure that religious and educational content reaches the deaf community in a simplified and effective manner.
The “Deaf Portal” was launched in 2016 and has since provided hundreds of visual materials in sign language, covering numerous series and themes such as “In the Shade of Prophethood,” “The Best Stories,” “Reassuring Homes,” “Boys and Girls,” and others.
The number of visitors to the portal has reached approximately 16,000, while the number of viewed materials has exceeded 37,000, and 18,000 views on YouTube.
