A researcher at HBKU
As an integral pillar of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), innovation is at the core of the institution’s ethos. Shaping tomorrow requires novel thinking today, and students, researchers, staff and faculty at HBKU are pushing the boundaries of innovation and thought leadership, with a multidisciplinary research-centric approach to supporting the future aspirations of Qatar.
Since its formation in 2010, the university has played an integral role in paving the way for Qatar’s knowledge-based economy. HBKU’s multidisciplinary approach to academic and research excellence has attracted well-established academics, ambitious students, and pioneering researchers.
HBKU is where learners and the learned come to address Qatar’s grand challenges, inspired by innovative thinking and a comprehensive approach to education and scholarship. All of HBKU's programmes are designed to produce interdisciplinary outcomes in areas where critical gaps in knowledge exist in Qatar and the region. “Powered by innovation and collaboration, we are developing a unique ecosystem that is making invaluable contributions to the growth of human capital and the intellectual capacity of Qatar,” says HBKU’s President, Dr Ahmad Hasnah. HBKU’s degrees are tailored to be multifaceted, with unique opportunities for research and thought leadership. As an agent for positive change, HBKU is dedicated to instilling an innovative mindset to address future challenges that the nation and region face.
HBKU has built a strong reputation of academic excellence through the development of rigorous programmes that cater to local and regional needs. Working with local and international partners, the university has created a regional hub for excellence and scholarship. This year HBKU launched several new postgraduate degrees that take learning beyond the confines of traditional academic subjects: master’s and PhD degrees in Genomics and Precision Medicine, and a master’s in Women, Society and Development and in Digital Humanities and Societies.
