Doha: The General Authority of Customs has called on shipping companies to register in the International Road Transport (TIR) system, highlighting its role in improving operational efficiency and expediting cross-border procedures.
In a statement, the authority said the TIR system enhances the movement of goods while ensuring high levels of security and reliability in international transit operations.
It noted that adopting the system could reduce border waiting times by up to 90 percent, provide a unified and internationally recognized customs guarantee, and ensure the safe transport of sealed cargo.
It added that Qatar is among the first countries in the region to achieve full integration with the TIR system, with the Electronic Pre-Declaration (EPD) and International Carnet serving as the sole documentation required for the dispatch and receipt of goods.
The authority encouraged companies to complete registration through the Qatar Chamber platform to benefit from streamlined trade procedures.
