Doha, Qatar: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Corporate Social Service in collaboration with the Corporate Communications Department organised a ceremony honouring Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QSW) and its employees who participated in an initiative of awareness sessions for social workers at HMC.
The sessions were conducted for several weeks and the honouring ceremony was held showing appreciation for participant contribution to the success of this initiative and to enhancing exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of social work.
The sessions were initiated as part of Corporate Social Service’s efforts at HMC to enhance the professional capacity of social workers across HMC facilities and expand their awareness of available community resources and services, contributing to their capability to guide patients and their families to support services and help them benefit from specialised community programmes.
More than 30 social workers across HMC facilities joined the initiative and 11 professionals from QSW and its affiliated centers who delivered the initiative’s content through a series of awareness and educational sessions, aiming to strengthen cooperation and integration between health and social institutions. The sessions also provided a shared platform for exchanging professional knowledge, unifying concepts related to social services and keeping up to date with developments in the field.
The initiative aimed to enhance coordination and improve referral systems between Corporate Social Service and the centers affiliated with QSW, increase social workers’ professional awareness of the services provided by these entities and empower teams to deliver more compassionate and effective social services that address the needs of patients and their families.
The sessions introduced each center’s referral mechanisms, admission criteria, scope of services and the target beneficiary groups. Time was also allocated to address inquiries from social workers from across HMC hospitals.
The sessions were conducted in a hybrid format, both in person and via Microsoft Teams, allowing greater flexibility and encouraging broader participation.
A number representative centers from QSW participated in delivering these sessions, including: Orphan Care Center “Dreama”, Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, Daam Behavioral Healthcare Center, Family Consulting Center “Wifaq”, Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly, Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center “AMAN” and Al-Noor Center for the Blind.
The ceremony was organised to highlight the importance of partnership and cooperation among national institutions in supporting professional and educational initiatives that contribute to the development of social work and strengthen its role in promoting the health and well-being of society.
Through these initiatives, HMC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening community partnerships and advancing the professional knowledge of social workers, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of social services provided to patients and their families.
