Silatech, a social organisation that works to enable jobs and expand economic opportunities for young Arabs, has started the implementation of its Career Guidance programme "Tamheed" in Qatar's public secondary schools, which includes a range of psychological assessments that measure personal and professional preferences, and a framework for academic and professional guidance.
Silatech had trained a number of secondary school academic advisors to use "Tamheed" to measure personal and professional orientation, which will help students choose the appropriate academic disciplines in university, thereby enhancing their success in their academic and professional careers.
The training comes as part of the partnership between Silatech and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar to implement the Tamheed training program and to qualify candidates from schools and centers affiliated with the Ministry in order to provide academic and professional counseling services.
Chief Program Officer at Silatech Faisal Al Emadi said that vocational guidance complement the role of the educational process in helping students discover their academic abilities and professional orientation and choose the appropriate university specialization, which supports students in the process of planning the right educational and vocational path and enhances their access to sustainable employment opportunities.
He added that Silatech seeks to achieve an Arab world that allows young people to work and participate in the economic development of their societies, noting that vocational guidance, which encourages school students to benefit from their diverse talents to meet the different disciplines required in the labor market, has become a key factor in achieving economic diversification and development plans for countries.
Silatech career guidance program "Tamheed" was launched in 2011. It's services are available through a wide network of professional centers distributed throughout the Arab world, as well as through job portals on the Internet. The program's psychological assessments are also used by companies, employers and training institutions to support the selection of candidates, and held match their abilities with appropriate opportunities.
