Doha: The Qatar National Hockey League will begin from April 5, the Qatar Hockey Association (QHA) announced here yesterday.
Three matches will be played on the opening day of the championship which is contested byseven clubs namely: Shabab Qatar, Mesaieed Hockey Club, Doha Hockey Club 1, Doha Hockey Club 2, Wanderers Hockey Qatar, United Hockey Qatar and Gateway Hockey Club.
Gateway Hockey Club won the title last year to end Wanderers reign of three years.
This year’s edition of the tournament will be played on a single-leg round-robin basis with the top team qualifying for the May 24 final.On the same day the play-off for the third place will take place said QHA.
All the matches of the league will be played on Friday’s at Al Rayyan Stadium.
