DOHA: Schoolchildren yesterday enjoyed cultural and educational activities at Katara as part of ‘Schools enrich our culture’ initiative launched by Cultural Village Foundation-Katara. The initiative was unveiled to instil among the young curiosity of discovery towards their history and Qatar’s cultural traditions.
Students of Al Hayatt Universal School and Al Muntazah Model Independent School had educational and interactive tours.
A group of Al Muntazah Model Independent Schools students learned more about the life of seafarers, hunting trips and pearl diving.
Other sea-related terms such as Dasha (start) and Gafa (end) and types of pearls were introduced to schoolchildren.
Maritime artefacts and professions related to marine heritage were also explained.
There were also other cultural and educational sessions to provide students with information and knowledge. Their questions were answered, and they were given awards and gifts.
The students of Al Muntazah Model Independent Schools toured Sawt Al Khaleej radio station’s interactive media studios. They enjoyed the experience of recording the Qatari national anthem in their voices.
The Childhood Cultural Centre (CCC) provided the students of Al Hayatt Universal School with educational, cultural and artistic sessions and on personal values for those aged four to 18.
