The 17th Al Bawasil Diabetes Camp for children, organised by the Qatar Diabetes Association of Qatar Foundation for boys and girls between 7 and 11 years living with diabetes concluded yesterday at Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence.
The camp organised by QDA in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, and under the patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, saw the participation of 60 children representing 12 countries.
Children from Qatar, as a hosting nation, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Oman and Iran took part in the intensive training programme.
Dr Abdulla Al Hamaq, Executive Director of QDA, said, "Our goal from organising this camp for children with diabetes is to make them feel happy. Those with diabetes are not alone and we all are here to support them and help them live a normal life with this ailment. The idea of this camp is also to give them hope and provide them with the desire of challenging the ailment and to become active members of their community.”
Participants from all countries praised the camp and QDA for giving them the opportunity to meet and benefit from the advice and care they received. They also praised the information the organisers gave them, and thanked Qatar for the hospitality and care they received during their stay.
