Company fined after workers injured

A criminal court has imposed a fine of QR20,000 on a company for failure to ensure safety of its workers during a work site accident that left many injured.

According to details, a number of labourers were working inside and around a three metre deep pit, moving sand out of it. Due to the weight of the sand above the excavation, the hole collapsed.

The case has been referred to civil court for claiming compensation for the injured.
